Tonight’s email is a little different. You may have noticed I’ve started publishing more frequently, and I plan to continue this weekly cadence through the rest of the year. I’m excited to be writing more, but I’m also feeling nervous since increased frequency means less polished pieces and more stream-of-consciousness posts, which is a huge challenge for me.
Ever since grad school and working as an editor, I’ve struggled to differentiate between creation and production. Assignments and deadlines can make this work feel arduous. Writing becomes about pleasing and retaining your audience—“write for them, not for you.” Understandable.
But I don’t want to get caught up in those patterns. Not here. I don’t want to churn content simply to churn content, but I also don’t want to hold off on publishing for fear you may not like a piece.
